daemon

not your mamas spotlight replacement.

daemon replaces spotlight, including its own switcher. hit the hotkey, type something, press enter = the panel reaches the screen inside one frame and ends animation past 150 ms.

one query hits every provider at the same time: apps, search, browser history, files, semantic search over your system, the system’s own settings, spotify, the clipboard, a switcher that grabs every desktop & window. ? hands a question to apple’s on-device model or an endpoint you set, with daemon’s own actions exposed to it as tools it can call.

everything it stores sits in open formats. the two features that need an account (spotify and a remote ask engine) stay off until you turn them on.
